Level 1

Learnin the fundamentals of Flat Track.

Body Movement

  • Weight shifting: Learn how to shift your weight to control the motorcycle’s lean angle and maintain stability.
  • Body position: Understand the correct body position for different riding conditions, such as cornering and braking.
  • Bike Control skills: Develop and enhance the skills and techniques needed to control your bike.

Body Position

  • Sitting position: Learn the correct sitting position on the motorcycle for maximum control and comfort.
  • Leg position: Learn the correct techniques  position to help
  • Learn how having the correct position on the bikes, translates to the feeling and control you have over the bike.

Steering Drills

  • Basic steering: Practice turning the motorcycle left and right at low speeds.
  • Counter-steering: Learn how to counter-steer to initiate turns and maintain control.
  • Tight turns: Practice making tight turns at different speeds.

Braking Drills

  • Straight-line braking: Practice braking in a straight line to develop braking technique and feel.
  • Corner braking: Learn how to brake effectively while entering a turn.

Controlling Slides

  • Controlled slides: Learn how to control rear-wheel slides.
  • Slide recovery: Practice recovering from slides to maintain control and avoid crashes.

Throttle Control

  • Helps you feel what’s happening underneath you.
  • Learn not to be too aggressive with the throttle.
  • Use the throttle to control the slide.

Practice, Practice, Practice

  • Training Oval: Spend ample time practicing on a training oval to develop your skills and build confidence.
  • TT Course: Once you have mastered the basics, start practicing on the TT course to prepare for real-world racing conditions.

Level 2

Refining your skills and learning track craft.

Level 2 is designed for riders who have learned the basics of flat track riding and are looking to refine their skills for competitive riding or simply a more a more rounded or complete riding experience.

Here’s what you can expect to learn:

Practice Starts

  • Master starts: Learn proper starting techniques to gain an advantage at the beginning of a race.
  • Practice reactions: Improve your reaction time to the green flag.
  • Optimise your launch: Find the best way to launch your motorcycle off the line.

Passing Moves

  • Safe and effective passing: Learn how to pass other riders safely and effectively.
  • Timing and positioning: Understand the best times and places to attempt passes.
  • Anticipate reactions: Predict how other riders will react to your passing attempts.

Close Riding

  • Maintain control: Learn how to ride closely with other riders without losing control.
  • Avoid accidents: Practice safe close riding techniques to minimise the risk of collisions.
  • Study other riders: Observe how experienced riders handle close-quarters racing.

Increasing Speed with Safety

  • Progressive speed increases: Gradually increase your speed as you gain confidence and experience.
  • Learn from mistakes: Analyse any mistakes you make and learn from them.

Group Starts, First Corner Tactics

  • Master starts: Practice group starts to improve your reactions and launching techniques.
  • First corner tactics: Learn how to navigate the first corner effectively and avoid accidents.
  • Anticipate other riders: Predict how other riders will behave and adjust your strategy accordingly.

Track Inspection

  • Analyse the track: Learn how to inspect the track to identify potential hazards and optimise your line.
  • Understand track conditions: Understand the effects of different track conditions on your riding.
  • Develop a strategy: Create a race strategy based on your track inspection.

Timed Laps

  • Measure progress: Track your lap times to measure your improvement and set goals.
  • Identify weak areas: Determine which sections of the track are slowing you down.
  • Optimise your line: Find the fastest and most efficient line around the track.

Practice, Practice, Practice

  • Training Oval: Continue practicing on the training oval to refine your skills and build confidence.
  • TT Course: Spend more time practicing on the TT course to prepare for real-world racing conditions.
